What it is and why you should care

The Big Give is a 501(c)(3) organization that helps kids in need. From back-to-school supplies to Christmas gifts, the Big Give is committed to helping kids right here in West Michigan. 

How it began

When Matt Wilber opened his first Fit Body location in 2013, he had one goal: to help people; to give people a place to go when they were ready to change. This commitment transcends fitness - then and now - so at Christmastime in 2013, Matt partnered with a client who helped him identify kids in need. 

To Matt’s surprise, the kids didn’t want toys or games. They asked for socks and underwear. "It broke my heart. I had no idea this kind of need existed in the Grand Haven community. Some of the stories are absolutely heart breaking.” 

So, in 2013, with the help of his Grand Haven Fit Family, Matt raised $3,200 and purchased socks, underwear, warm clothes, and toys for 100 kids. 
Since that first year, Matt Wilber’s team has raised and donated more than $260,000 and helped nearly 1,000 children in West Michigan.

Today, as we celebrate our 7th year of charitable giving, we have a bold goal to raise $150,000 to help 500 kids in each of our 7 communities* and we need YOUR help.

*The Big Give supports kids of all ages in: Comstock Park, Byron Center, Forest Hills, Grandville, Grand Haven, Grand Rapids Dream Center, Kentwood, Holland, Holland West Ottawa, D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s. We work with school social workers to identify families who need help. The social workers work with parents to gather kids’ wants and needs. 
In year 1 of the Big Give (2013), we raised $3,200.

To keep things spirited, we're holding a "friendly" competition across our 7 locations to see whose clients are the most generous. If every client donates just $30, we'll reach our goal. The Big Give is proud to partner with the Grand Rapids Dream Center, a West Michigan-based nonprofit who provides food, water, toiletries, clothing and beds to thousands of families throughout our community. See the impact your donation to the Big Give has on local families.
